In Red Hook, there is a great park of cranes and shipping called the Erie Basin Park. Unfortunately, the boom didn't fit on this one. Clearly, it's next to the Ikea. Ink and watercolor freehand sketch, on the pier, with no shade.

Garfield & 8th Ave

Garfield & 8th Ave by James Anzalone
Garfield & 8th Ave, a photo by James Anzalone on Flickr.

On Saturday, it ended up raining most of the day. Desperate to get in a sketch, I drew this beneath the cover of some trees. There are a few spots where raindrops came down and blurred the ink. Today, still raining, I watercolored the image taking the liberty to make it appear like a sunny day.

A few things different than my usual in that I used a much larger 11 x 17 pad (tough to hold), and I sketched from the opposite side of the street including parked cars in the image. This is more like the typical street scene in the neighborhood.
